Our collections are made from EUROPEAN FLAX® certified linen, bluesign® certified silk, merino wool, cashmere and other natural fibres — chosen for their minimal environmental footprint and longevity.

What fabrics does Lilly Pilly use?

Lilly Pilly uses premium natural fibres including our own EUROPEAN FLAX® certified European linen, bluesign® certified silk, extra-fine merino wool, cashmere, and cashmere-wool blend. Linen requires significantly less water and pesticides than cotton or polyester, and is fully biodegradable and compostable. We do not use synthetic fabrics.

What sustainability certifications does Lilly Pilly hold?

Lilly Pilly holds EUROPEAN FLAX® Standard certification for our linen, bluesign® certification for our silk collection, and OEKO TEX certification for our Corozo buttons. We are the only Australian fashion brand with bluesign® certified silk. Is linen more sustainable than cotton or polyester?

Yes. Lilly Pilly produces its own linen fabric using EUROPEAN FLAX® certified linen flax. Linen requires significantly less water and pesticides than cotton or polyester, is fully biodegradable and compostable, and does not contribute to microplastic pollution — making it one of the most sustainable fabrics available.

What is bluesign® certification and why does it matter?

bluesign® is one of the world's most stringent textile sustainability certifications, focusing on resources, people, and the environment. It eliminates harmful substances from the supply chain from the very beginning of fabric production and guarantees the highest level of consumer safety. Lilly Pilly is the only Australian fashion brand with bluesign® certified silk.

What is EUROPEAN FLAX® certified linen?

EUROPEAN FLAX® is a certification guaranteeing linen is grown in Europe under strict environmental standards, using mineral-rich silty soil and generations of farming expertise. The flax plants produce extra-long fibres resulting in linen that is remarkably strong, soft, and breathable. Lilly Pilly has produced its own unique EUROPEAN FLAX® certified linen fabric since SS24.

What is Lilly Pilly doing to reduce carbon emissions?

Lilly Pilly's manufacturing partner generates 30% of production energy from solar power, has eliminated harmful SO₂ emissions by replacing coal-fired boilers with natural gas systems, and uses 3D virtual design technology that has reduced carbon emissions per garment from 1,500kg to just 15kg.

Lilly Pilly clothing is made by a certified manufacturing partner in Jiaxing, China, who shares our commitment to ethical production, fair wages, and sustainable practices.

Are Lilly Pilly's buttons sustainable?

Yes. Lilly Pilly uses only natural buttons — shell, coconut, or Corozo. Our Corozo buttons are made from the seed of South American palm trees. They are 100% natural, durable, scratch-resistant, and OEKO TEX certified — sustainably produced and free of chemicals and toxic ingredients.

Is Lilly Pilly packaging sustainable?

Yes. Lilly Pilly uses 100% compostable paper product packaging, reflecting our commitment to reducing environmental impact at every stage.

Why choose natural fibre clothing?

Natural fibres are more sustainable than synthetic alternatives — they require less energy and water to produce, are biodegradable and compostable, and do not contribute to microplastic pollution.
